OpenAI, led by Sam Altman, has finalized a partnership with News Corp to incorporate the media conglomerate’s news content into its artificial intelligence platform, the companies announced on Wednesday. This strategic agreement marks a significant step for OpenAI in enhancing its content capabilities.
Under the terms of the deal, OpenAI will gain access to a wide range of current and archived material from News Corp’s extensive portfolio of publications. Notable among these are the Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, and the Times, among others. This will enable OpenAI to broaden its data sources, potentially improving the performance and versatility of its AI models.
This announcement comes on the heels of a similar agreement that OpenAI secured just weeks prior with the Financial Times. This prior deal also centered around licensing content specifically for the development and training of advanced AI models. These consecutive partnerships highlight OpenAI’s proactive approach in integrating diverse and authoritative content into its AI development initiatives.
