Computer scientist Andrej Karpathy has announced the launch of Eureka Labs, an AI-integrated education platform. Drawing on his extensive experience at OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, and Tesla, Karpathy aims to revolutionize digital learning.
Since the release of ChatGPT in November 2022, educational platforms have increasingly utilized generative AI to enhance and create digital learning content. On Eureka Labs, teachers will design courses with the assistance of an AI teaching assistant, which will guide students through the material, Karpathy explained in a post on X.
The platform’s first offering, LLM101n, is an undergraduate-level course that helps students train their own AI models, functioning as a scaled-down version of the AI teaching assistant.
Karpathy, a founding member of OpenAI in 2015, later joined Tesla to lead its autopilot division, developing advanced driver assistance software. “Eureka Labs is the culmination of my passion in both AI and education over about two decades,” Karpathy stated in his post.
Karpathy, who holds a PhD from Stanford University, began his journey by posting tutorial videos on how to solve Rubik’s cubes. In addition to his work as a computer engineer, he has published various online content exploring AI concepts over the years.
